John and Jane Francis are the owners and operators of Pure Wyoming Grass Fed Beef. John has lived on the family ranch his entire life and has managed it since he was 19 years old. Jane works for the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, where she focuses on stopping groundwater contamination. John is a founding member of the local volunteer fire department where he has served for over 20 years. He also served on the Crow Creek Watershed steering committee and the West Cheyenne Transportation Planning Committee. The Francis Ranch has been raising and selling beef direct to consumers for over 30 years. No antibiotics or growth hormones are given to the cattle at any time. If a calf is treated with an antibiotic, it’s made ineligible for the Pure Wyoming Beef program.
All of these cattle are born and raised on the Francis Ranch. They eat native range grasses except for the last 3 months or so, when they are fed a corn-based ration to improve tenderness and flavor.
Pricing: Pure Wyoming Grass Fed Beef is sold on a live weight basis. We will be charging $1.30 per pound. The beef is available as a half beef or a whole. For an extra $15, a split side or 1/4 beef is also available. Processing costs $0.45 to $0.55 per pound of carcass weight, (About 62% of the live weight) plus $50 per animal. This adds up to a cost of about $4.75 per pound of beef in your freezer. We offer a $25 credit for each customer that you refer who buys ½ beef or more.
Payment: We require a $75 deposit to reserve a 1/2 beef, $50 for a 1/4 or $125 for a whole beef. The balance is due when the animal is delivered to the processor. The processor will charge you for their services. We accept Visa, Mastercard and honorable checks.
Processors: We will deliver the animal to a processor in Cheyenne or Laramie at no charge. We will deliver the animal to Pierce CO, Kersey CO or Torrington WY for an additional $20. The processors are booked several months in advance. Please indicate which processor you would like to use.
